Our Boston based client was founded in 1982 and has grown to become one of the most successful diversified real estate investment private equity firms in the nation. The Firm has acquired, invested in, and/or managed over $45 billion of real estate on behalf of hundreds of U.S. and non-U.S. institutional investors and clients. Leveraging deep expertise in acquiring, developing, managing, and selling real assets in the U.S., they focus on delivering value to investors and communities through a combination of value-add closed-end, core open-end, and customized separate/advisory account strategies.

Position Description:
Working out of the Boston office, the Officer of Multifamily Asset Management is responsible for overseeing the operational and financial performance of a multifamily real estate portfolio. This functional leadership role ensures the execution of asset management strategies, maximizes property value, and aligns with the organization’s investment objectives. The Officer will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency, compliance, and resident satisfaction. Our client’s multifamily holdings are inclusive of ~15,000 units across +50 assets. This position will cover assets across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Florida.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the performance of a multifamily portfolio, ensuring optimal cash flow, expense control, and operating efficiencies.
  • Analyze property financial statements, variance reports, and operational data against benchmarks and budgets on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Develop and implement asset-level and market-level strategies consistent with company growth objectives and investment goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with property management teams and third-party vendors to ensure high-quality management and service delivery.
  • Direct annual budget processes, capital improvement plans, and site inspections; evaluate deferred maintenance and compliance with management plans.
  • Identify and execute value-add initiatives, such as renovations and risk mitigation measures, to enhance property value and maintain high-quality housing.
  • Prepare and present quarterly and annual operating reports, portfolio statistics, and risk analyses to senior leadership and investment partners.
  • Review and interpret partnership agreements, loan documents, regulatory agreements, and other legal documentation as needed.
  • Manage limited partner exits and coordinate with lenders, syndicators, and agencies on ownership transfers for tax credit properties.
  • Ensure compliance with Fair Housing, EEOC, low-income housing tax credits, and all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the adoption and integrity of asset management technology systems, seeking opportunities to streamline operations through technology.
  • Participate in the analysis of new acquisitions and contribute asset management insights to Acquisitions/deal teams.
  • Serve as a liaison between ownership, property management, and other internal departments, ensuring alignment and communication across team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, real estate, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant industry experience, with at least 3 years in direct multifamily asset management or property management leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in real estate financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and investment strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of multifamily operations, capital planning, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial and legal documents.
  • Consistently demonstrates a high level of internal/external client service, poise & presence.
  • Extreme attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative work style; extremely flexible, adaptable, a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with SharePoint, VTS and Yardi preferred.
  • Ability to travel, as needed, to properties for site inspections and meetings as required.

Salary:

  • Base Salary: $140,000 - $175,000
  • Bonus: 30%

Compensation will be based on experience and include a bonus and benefits.
